Encore Life Fitness program is perfect for people over 50. Our program works for anyone at any age however our intention was to provide all the viable and pertinent information necessary to reverse the aging process for those people over 50 who were ready to create a healthy lifestyle. One of the key differences you will see in our plan is that we discourage the use of a scale, calorie counting and point systems.
We know that when you exercise and your diet consist of whole foods you will be guided toward healthier food choices. It is not the calorie counting that is critical it is the food you are consuming that matters most. 200 calories of vegetables is certainly digested differently than 200 calories of French fries and the body handles each differently.
When you eat low-glycemic foods that nourish and heal your body will naturally shed unwanted pounds. Our journal will assist you in tracking your progress in a stress free manner. You will also have coaches and a community of support to achieve your goals. The most critical piece of this process is that it is not a diet; it is a way a life and a transformation of our habits.
The Encore Life Fitness program has helped many men and women of all ages to optimize their health, it’s people in their 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s (even 80’s and 90’s) that typically fair best on the program.
There are two reasons for this:
- As we age our metabolism slows down and for most people it is due to muscle loss. For many of us we continue to eat the same way which creates weight gain. You add in insulin resistance and that makes matters worse. That is why it is critical to know what you are putting into your body and to stay away from any kind of diet.
- Encore Life Fitness program is based on science and good old common sense. Our program is designed to fit into your lifestyle so you are not burdened by rules and guidelines that makes it a challenge to continue on with.
Our full intention is to break cycle of yo-yo dieting that’s common in older folks that have been on program after program for too many years to mention. The end result that you will experience is a lifestyle change leading to good health and successful weight loss.
Our programs provides the tools that puts you in control of your health and well being. Nutrition and what we put into our bodies is a major focus. Hippocrates said it best “food is medicine”. We are all painfully aware that the GMO’s and the processed chemicals that are being put into our food today is not what nature intended for us. These foods are filled with unnatural, processed chemicals that lead to weight gain and disease. We are getting heavier, sicker and own the distinct title of “the fattest country in the world”. Our intention is to be an instrument of change that creates a new way for aging gracefully.
Along with the food we are putting into our bodies it is also necessary to exercise and move. Many of us choose to accept the negative impact of aging as a way of life and think that we have no control over it. That is one of the biggest lies you could tell yourself. One of the key things we work with people on is the language that use with themselves. It is easy to say well I am getting older that is to be expected. What we suggest is that I am getting older and better every day. When you follow the suggestions we outline for you it is impossible not to feel better each and every day. Exercise gives us our strength and vitality back. There is no need to feel weak or less than any longer.

We cannot stop the aging process however we can do it with ease and grace. It may seem like things are moving faster and faster however recent studies have shown we can alter the rate at which our bodies move through the life cycle.
There is a choice that has to be made. Would you like to be in better health in your 70’s than you were in your 50’s. We have more than enough scientific evidence that clearly shows we can slow down and even reverse the symptoms of aging. It has been shown that between the ages of 30 and 70 many of the aliments and symptoms correlated to normal aging were the result of sedentary lifestyles.
When we incorporate regular exercise into our lifestyle we can improve our heart and respiratory function, lower blood pressure, reduce body fat, increase muscle mass and most importantly keep us emotionally balanced. Imagine a life that did not include depression and or disease. Did you know that studies have shown that regular exercise can give you an additional 20 to 40 years compared to someone who does little or no exercise. What is really key is that it does not matter when you start to exercise you can have significant improvement.
No matter what age we are now putting the right foods in our body, exercise and physical activity is critical to reverse the aging process.
The Annals of Internal Medicine recently published a study that showed older adults who exercised at least three times a week were 38 percent less likely to develop Alzheimer’s disease, which causes a slow, irreversible decline in brain function. ” The decline the brain experiences late in life is not inevitable.
It can be affected by things like habitual exercise,” said lead study author Dr. Eric Larson of the Group Health Cooperative in Seattle. The theory is that exercise not only increases blood flow and oxygen to the brain — it may also reduce the telltale “plaque” in the brain associated with Alzheimer’s disease.
Exercise is the best and most efficient way to good health and overcome disease. The key is the find the way to exercise that works for you and your body. Your Encore Life Fitness Coach will work with you to discover what is best for you. Some people love going to the gym, some want to work out at home. The key is to get moving and be efficient and effective with your exercise.
